Today honors the accomplishments of all those whose ingenuity brought about the great mode of transportation known as air travel. Aviation Day is always celebrated on August 19 because it commemorates Orville Wright's birthday. Born in 1871, he and his brother Wilbur are the ones widely associated with building the first successful airplane. Although planes have been adapted just a little bit since this photo, we owe much to the bravery (and a little measure of insanity) displayed by these two men.
